DUTIES:Responsible for planning, directing, coordinating and evaluating the delivery of care to adult and geriatric patients through the management of resources and nursing personnel. Exhibits leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for diverse programs where nurses are deployed across the Service Line, each of which influence the organizationâs mission and health care delivery to Veterans. Assists in planning and directing aspects of personnel management for Mental Health Service Line (MHSL) programs as assigned; coordinates functions through subordinate managers. Provides direct supervision for the MHSL Nurse Managers and other Mental Health Service Line staff as assigned by the Chief, MHSL. Demonstrates the ability to function under high-pressure within specific time restraints to produce positive outcomes that are measurable and objective. Displays ability to foster positive working relationships with management across all disciplines as well as with nursing at all levels. Has the ability to recognize own weaknesses and seeks out mentors and educational opportunities to grow. Recognizes the variety of customers that mental health service line encounters daily and able to respond to their feedback and needs. Exhibits an understanding of the culture within the VA system and adept at working within policies and procedures. Tour of Duty (Generally): Monday - Friday 0730 to 1600, with coverage as required for the Nurse Executive/other ACNS/Nursing Supervisor. KEY REQUIREMENTS
- U.S. Citizenship
- Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.
- Must pass pre-employment examination.
- Designated and/or Random Drug Testing required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Citizen of the United States.
- Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
- Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.

- The Registered Nurse (RN) in this administrative assignment must hold a Masters Degree in Nursing from a National League of Nursing (NLN) accredited program or a Masters Degree in a field related to Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a NLN accredited program and has met licensure requirement for practice in accordance with VHA Handbook 5005/27, Part II, Appendix G6 dated March 17, 2009.
