All directors will ensure operational proficiency of their assigned areas through effective communication, planning,! and organization of the function and resources available.

Through leadership and periodic evaluation, the Director will work with his / her staff to accomplish the goals set forth by the organization.

GENERAL LEADERSHIP:
1.

Responsible for the overall compliance of Human Resource and administrative policies and procedures governing Lafayette General Medical Center with its objectives, within the proper lines of authority.

2.

Responsible for the departmental policies and procedures governing assigned departments.

3.

Recognizes their role as the cornerstone of a successful and effective Corporate Compliance program in that Directors have access to resources throughout the hospital to assist the employee in upholding the Code of Conduct.

4.

Directs or promotes care activities in the accreditation and licensing processes administered by Joint Commission and State Boards.

Promot! es professional standards of care for affiliated Boards.
5.

Initiates, reviews, and approves justifiable requests for new equipment; new and renewed programs, staffing, and other matters that directly or indirectly affect patients, personnel, and the public.

6.

Prepares and administers annual operating and capital equipment budgets; monitors actual

performance versus budget and submits all required monthly / quarterly variance and performance reports.

7.

Reviews monthly incident, activity, and productivity reports for assigned areas, monitoring for emerging patterns and to provide applicable information to others.

8.

Responsible for overall Performance Improvement Plan for assigned departments.

Evaluates trends and implements change as necessary for positive outcomes.

9.

Participates in administrative and / or management staff, mandatory programs, and classes. Conduct department meetings regularly.

Keeps self visible an! d accessible to clinical, ancillary, and supervisory staff.

10.

Actively participates on hospital committees to promote integration and synergy of hospital wide goals.

11.

Plans and markets service line related business in accordance with national and local trends.

12.

Establishes and maintains membership in applicable professional and/or technical

organizations, health care related associations and community groups.

Participates in

seminars, conferences, workshops, and continuing education programs.

13.

Inspires confidence by performing and communicating in a professional, courteous and caring manner.

14.

Encourages open, timely and candid communication, as well as collaboration among employees, departments and physicians thus fostering and maintaining positive working relationships.

15.

Maintains confidentiality and is ethical in manner wh! en dealing with physicians, staff, patients and visitors.

Responsible for organizing developing, directing, and coordinating interdepartmental activities to maintain prompt, efficient, professional services.

17.

Ensures that staff meets necessary educational, certification and license requirements for their position.

18.

Performs personally (or through managers / supervisors) annual merit appraisals for their employees; monitors staff performance; provides direction, motivation and recognition of staff.

19.

Assures that the area of responsibility provides an orientation and training program for new hires of sufficient depth and duration to prepare them for their responsibilities.

20.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care or support as appropriate to the age of the patients serviced in his or her assigned area.

21.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL DU! TIES/RESPONSIBLITIES:

1.

Accountable for the patient care operations of all assigned units.

2.

Assures Standards of Practice are maintained with high patient and physician satisfaction.

3.

Performs duties as related to the operation and management of the Medical and Surgical nursing areas.

4.

Responsible for department policy development and implementation, overseeing staff scheduling in units according to established staffing patterns, analyzing staffing patterns to provide appropriate patient care within budget, maintains effective communication with the Nursing Staffing office personnel to maximize staffing opportunities, assures that Standards of Practice are followed in clinic care, monitors patient satisfaction and takes action to continuously improve outcomes, develops and monitors strategic neuro plan in conjunction with Directors of Emergency Services, Intensive Care units, and Perioperative Se! rvices, develops and monitors strategic Oncology plan in conjunction wi! th Oncolody, Radiation Oncology, Medical Directors, and Oncology Clinical Supervisor, and oversees Oncology Medical Director, Radiation Oncology Medical Director and Dialysis Medical Director contracts.

5.

Performs Human Resource duties as related to the functions of a management position and be responsible for making decisions for non-exempt personnel and making recommendations for exempt personnel regarding employment, performance rating, promotions, salary changes, transfers and terminations.

6.

Responsible for departmental policies and procedures governing assigned departments.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required.

·

Masters Degree (MBA, MHA, etc.) preferred.

·

Minimum of three (3) years of management experience in health care industry required.

·

Must possess Registered Nurse licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing required.

·

CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire.

·

Falls prevention, OSHA, and restraint training to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
·

Must comply with all Standards of Behavior

·

Adhere to all requirements, policies, procedures and mandatory training as identified by LGMC.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ! CONDITIONS:

Medium Work as defined by the U.S. Depa! rtment of Labor constitutes a maximum lift of 21-50 pounds on occasion and/or a maximum lift of 11-25 pounds on a frequent basis

May be required to assist in the turning, lifting, or moving patients as well as

walking about from patients’ rooms, as well as to and from various hospital areas
