intake calls for appropriate level of care and conduct initial intake
assessments to determine appropriateness for adm! ission to facility or
community referral.
Responsibilities include:
Assists caller in providing recommendations
for appropriate action including assessment and/or admission, or
referral to an appropriate agency for further services when in-house
services are inappropriate.
Conducts admissions assessments. Completes
thorough and timely admissions assessments. Communicates patient
information, in adherence with HIPAA standards, with other treatment
professionals and service areas, relevant to the provision of
services upon admission.
Communicates effectively and demonstrates
quality customer service with all internal and external customers.
Communicates professionally and with compassion.
Maintains working knowledge of current
hospital and payer source criteria, custodial parent and guardian
requirements, pre-certification processes, and referral sources.
Adheres to general! performance standards for
hospital employees, and maintai! ns licensure and training
requirements. Fosters productive teamwork within the integrated
hospital system.

Requirements
This opportunity is available to individuals who
meet the following requirements:
Masters Degree in social work, psychology,
counseling or related area of study from an accredited college or
university and/or current Registered Nurse License to practice in the
state of Louisiana.
A minimum of two (2) years experience in
psychiatric treatment setting preferred
Awareness and understanding of psychiatric
diagnosis and able to conduct clinical assessment
Demonstrate awareness and understanding of
referral processe! s and community resources.
Able to visually observe to convey verbally
and in writing patient behavior. Able to write legibly and
grammatically to convey patient behavior and information on patient
assessments.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient
information.
Knowledge and adherence to facility safety
practices
Effective oral and written communication
skills and knowledge of telephone etiquette is required
Ability to interact in a positive manner and
to communicate well with co-workers, supervisor and other hospital
employees
Must be able to work in a fast-paced
environment with frequent interruptions
Ability to maintain information as highly
confidential
Able to exert up to 100 pounds of force
occasionally
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach,
stand, walk, push, pull, lift & grasp
Successful completion of Nonviolent C! risis
Intervention (CPI) & CPR within 90 days of employment
