The Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist follows established
treatment program policies and procedures to provide
continui! ty of care and adheres to current medical
procedures, standards and practices. These
responsibilities include utilizing medical skills for
planning, assessment, intervention, and evaluation of
patient needs. The Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist also
must be able to perform laboratory procedures in
accordance with current best practices. The Medical
Assistant/Phlebotomist will perform duties within the
scope of their licensure or certification, under the
supervision of the Nurse Supervisor as authorized by the
Medical Director.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
Professional Development
- Responsible for the achievement of assigned specific

- Participate in all trainings as required by federal,
- As requested, prepare and lead trainings regarding

gathering, etc.)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the timely collection of patient laboratory
regulations
- Prepare monthly patient lists for medical testing,
guidelines
- Timely review, posting, and dissemination of all
- Track all documents from laboratory for accuracy and

- Assist Medical Director/Program Physician/Nurse

- Complete patient vital signs and health assessments
- Complete patient TB testing and blood draws
- Complete TB testing for team members and applicants

- Maintain an organized and sanitary work environment
- Provide input into overall treatment program
- Prepare reports for participation in treatment team
- Provide consultation to team members regarding lab
- Ensure the maintenance of quality patient care
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and
- Meet BHG attendance standards and be present and
work schedule
- Report any work-related injury or illness, or
supervisor
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Requirements
The Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist must hold a valid
certification in the State in which they are working or
meet qualifications through a documented training
program from on-the-job experience. The Medical
Assistant/Phlebotomist should have appropriate work
experience in the behavioral health field. In addition
to meeting the qualifications outlined above, the ideal

normal volumes.
