DUTIES:
Works collaboratively with and under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse to provide for the delivery of patient care through the use of the nursing process. Communicates effectively with coworkers, patients, family and visitors. Provides a safe environment for the patient. Assists the patient to reach optimal functioning considering their individual capabilities. Performs all functions as delegated by the staff nurse. Must keep nursing personnel informed and adheres to the policies and procedures of Ochsner Medical Center. Demonstrates actions consistent with Ochsner Health System's "Ochsner Expectations" as duties are performed on a daily basis.

REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalent is required. Current Louisiana Certification as a Nurses' Assistant (CNA) required at time of hire; Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and Regional pool requires renewal every two years. Healthcare provider CPR is required. Hospital and telemetry experience preferred. Must be able to multi task and be self motivated. Must be able to 'work effectively under stress and have general computer skills. Current math, reading, wiling at 12 grade level or above. must demonstrate effective planning, organizing, and time management skills. As per Dictionary of Occupational Titles, Vol. 11.4'" edition, Medium Work- exerting 20 to 50 Ibs. of force occasionally, and/or 10-25Ibs. of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 Ibs of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for light 'work (1991, pg. 1013). Assists with plan of care as delegated by staff nurse within scope of practice, Maintains a clean and safe environment In patient care areas. Provides care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the ages of patents served in assigned areas. Completes documentation of patient related tasks. Demonstrates effective communication skills with patients, families, and other staff members, Including multi-disciplinary teams. Demonstrates accountability for own professional growth and development.
