The Patient Care Tech will assist the nurses by performing various patient care activities and services necessary to meet personal and comfort needs in order to carry out the medical and nursing plan of care for all adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities Include:Assist the nurse in the assessment of the patients’ physical, nutritional, psychosocial, emotional, cultural, spiritual, educational and rehabilitative needs and problems.Patient care activities are coordinated through collaboration and planning with other members of the health care team.Able to identify potential or actual victims of abuse and understands proper reporting mechanism.Assists in implementing the medical and nursing plan of care by:a. Taking Vital Signs accurately and documenting appropriately.b. Providing comfort and hygiene measures in a timely manner.c. Providing nutritional requirements in a timely manner and accurately recording intake and output.d.

Keeping patients’ immediate enviornment clean and safe.e. Keeping the staff nurse informed of patients’ conditions, response to care, and any concerns voiced.f. Meeting all physical needs of patients in a timely manner.Performs assigned treatments:a. Enemas and douchesb.

Urinary catheter care and removalc. Ice collar and aqua moduled. Ostomy caree. Capillary blood sugarsf.

Non-sterile dressing changesMeets the rehabilitative needs of patients as instructed by the nurse by:a. Assisting in moving in and out of bedb. Assisting in positioning and repositioning while in bed to prevent skin injuriesc. Exercising extremetiesd.

Adheres to principles of safe body mechanicsHigh school diploma or equivalentBLS to be completed in 3 months of hire dateCertified Nursing Assistant certification required
