1.
Assist patients with activities of daily living (oral hygiene, bathing, eating, elimination)
2.
Obtain report from nurse on patient assignment.
3.
Obtain vital signs on patients.
4.
Assist with transporting patients.
5.
Complete
CNA
portion of admission record.
6.
Assist nurses with patient admissions.
7.
Assist other nursing assistants/nurses with repositioning patients, incontinent care, and getting patients out of b! ed.
8.
Maintains record of patient intake an! d output..
9.
Administer patient enema(s).
10.
Comply with the Standards of Behavior.
11.
Discontinue peripheral IV catheter.
12.
Discontinue urinary catheter.
13.
Utilize appropriate equipment to assist with patient care activities such as hoyer lift, slider, Maxislide, steady, and gait belts.
14.
Perform proper procedure for discharge of patient.
15.
Assists nurses’ in performing procedures/patient care activities as necessary.
16.
Assist patients to perform appropriate activities including range of motion, sitting in chair, and ambulation.
17.
Collects, secures, and transports specimens as necessary.
18.
Assist other departments as directed by RN.
19.
Answer telephone at nurses’ station and patient call system when necessary.
20.
Follow hospital standards! of infection control, including the use of Standard Precautions, Universal Precautions, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, proper hand-washing and limiting exposure of other employees and patients to contagious conditions whenever possible
21.
Comply with safety standards.
22.
Respond to fire, internal &/or external disaster appropriately (hurricane, fire, chemical exposure, pandemic).
23.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Complies with HIPAA and corporate compliance regulations.
24.
Attend 90%
St. Martin
Hospital
and
CNA
inservice programs.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Required to do moderate lifting of
15-44
pounds and light carrying of under 15 pounds. Required to do straight pulling and pushing. Reaches above shoulder level. Uses fingers and both hands (may be compensated by the use of acceptabl! e prosthesis). Stands and walks most of shift. Repeated bending required! . Both simultaneously. Near and far vision required-may be corrected. Depth perception required and the ability to distinguish basic colors. Hearing with aid permitted. Required to work rotating shifts.
ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work inside building with controlled heating and cooling. Exposed to excessive noise and dust. Works around radiant and electrical energy. Works around moving objects. Works with hands in water. May be required to work alone or with others. Required to work protracted or irregular hours.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:
Must be certified by State of Louisiana Board of Examiners. Past experience helpful. On the job training.
Heartsaver CPR for adults, children, & infants.
