General Job Summary

The Revenue Cycle Rep III greets patients and guests in a courteous manner whether via telephone contact or in-person. The Revenue Cycle Rep III will initiate scheduling an appointment or completing the check-in process for patients. The Revenue Cycle Rep III obtains and verifies accurate identification and demographical data for the patient's permanent medical record which assists in accurate reimbursement while recognizing t! he necessity of maintaining the confidentiality of all patient! information. The Revenue Cycle Rep III is responsible for point-of-service, face-to-face patient interactions related to completing the patient registration and admission process as well as via telephone, web application, and/or thru an interpretative service. The Revenue Cycle Rep III improves patient satisfaction through consistently representing Ochsner Health System professionally and cross-training to support multiple functions across all patient and payer types. The Revenue Cycle Rep III interacts with doctors, nurses, and other clinic or hospital personnel.

Required Qualifications

Education / Certifications / Licensure / Specialized Training

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience / Skills

6+ years related experience in a customer service related position such as hospital, clinic, medical office, business services/revenue cycle, front line registration, financial counseling, banking, retail or hospitality. (4 years e! xperience is acceptable if also certified)
Good customer service, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with other departments and functional areas and effectively gather and disseminate information to a diverse range of people
Basic prioritization, time management, and organizational skills; ability to handle several tasks and interruptions in a positive manner
Excellent decision making skills; sound judgment in handling/escalating difficult situations
Good analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
Proficiency in personal computers and associated software applications (Excel, Word, email functions)
Experience accomplishing responsibilities with little supervision and maintaining confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications
Education / Certifications / Licensure / Specialized Training

CHAM, CHAA, Certification as a Medical Assistan! t, or other medical specialty-based certification

Essential Po! sition Duties

1. Completes the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admissions process
2. Ensures all required forms are completed and other paperwork / documents are gathered and accurate.
3. Performs financial analysis of each case and informs patient of financial responsibility
4. Provides excellent customer service to all patients, guests and family members
5. Balances cash drawer daily and prepares cash log at the end of the shift
