Six months of experience or training in patient care work.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
Graduation from an ac! credited professional registered or practical nursing program may be substituted for all of the required experience.
Possession of a valid Certified Nursing Assistant certificate will substitute for all of the required experience.
Completion of a medical assistant training program may be substituted for the required experience on a month for month basis.
Graduation from an accredited Emergency Medical Technician Program may be substituted for all of the required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a valid Certified Nursing Assistant certificate as required by federal mandate.
This vacancy is located in JACKSON, LOUISIANA (30 miles North of Baton Rouge) at VILLA FELICIANA MEDICAL COMPLEX in the NURSING SERVICE DEPARTMENT and can be filled by probation or promotion of a permanent state employee.
As part of! a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this! recruitment at a (Nursing Asst. 1 and Nursing Asst. 2) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicants(s). The minimum salary for the NA 2 position is $8.06 per hour ($16,765.00 annual) and the maximum salary for the NA2 is $16.10 per hour ($33,488.00 annual). Examples of Work:
Measures temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height and weight; records in patients medical record.
May assist with documenting admission of new patients on medical record.
Provides care to patients such as ambulating, feeding, bathing, positioning and lifting.
May sterilize equipment and supplies.
Distributes clean linen, washes, dries, sorts, folds, and stores patients clothing.
Collects, labels and transports laboratory specimens as assigned.
Collects and files diagnostic test results.
Observes patients condition and reports any changes to charge nurse.
Transports patients to examinations, clinics, or recreational sites.
May be required to provide care to patients with infectious diseases.
Cleans rooms and changes bed! linens.
Performs procedures such as enemas and skin care as d! irected by a professional nurse.
Performs all duties that may be performed by the unit aide.
Successfully completes training programs such as CPR, First Aid, infection control, infectious disease, and/or programs that maintain hospital standards such as quality control, safety issues, and JCAHO requirements.
Maintains any necessary certifications.
Work may involve shift work.
