KIPP New Orleans Student Support Services is a multi-disciplinary team of special educators, social workers, nurses, speech language pathologists and service providers. We ensure all stu! dents achieve academic and personal success through early identification of student difficulties, proactive implementation of supportive interventions, multi-disciplinary support to all eligible students and our belief that all students can learn and be successful. The school psychologist will work cooperatively with instructional faculty, parents and service providers to design interventions, provide diagnostic information and provide an appropriate education program for students with disabilities throughout the region.

About KIPP New Orleans Schools

In its seventh year of operation, KIPP New Orleans Schools (KNOS) is building an influential network of tuition-free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public charter schools that empower students with the knowledge and character traits to be lifelong learners and leaders. KNOS operates nine high-performing schools on eight campuses, serving 3,200 of our city’s highest-needs students.

By 2015, w! e aim to ultimately grow to 12 schools, five primary, five mid! dle and two high schools. KIPP New Orleans Schools is associated with the national KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) Network, which recruits and trains school leaders to open KIPP schools across the country. The KIPP network is rapidly growing; there are currently 125 KIPP schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia, serving more ! than 39,000 students.

Major Responsibilities

Conduct evaluations and other professional activities consistent with the requirements of laws, rules & regulations, and local district policies and procedures

Ensure evaluation practices are provided in an ethical and professional manner

Utilize various assessment instruments and techniques to assist in identifying students eligible for special education services and in determining appropriate intervention strategies and techniques.

Attend Health & Wellness meetings and design and implement academic and behavioral interventions and student progress monitoring systems.

Attend Student Evaluation Plan meetings and Dissemination meetings to interpret evaluation results

Demonstrate knowledge of Louisiana Bulletins 1508 and 1706 and eligibility criteria and procedures for identifying students with disabilities and determining the presence of an educational need for special! education.

Provide consultation and/or workshops to parents, ! teachers, other school personnel to enhance the learning and adjustment of students.

Assist in the planning, development and evaluation of programs to meet identified needs.

Provide crisis intervention and support if needed

Education & Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution (Level B certification acceptable, Level A certification preferred)

Knowledge of federal and state Special Education law

A minimum of two years of successful teaching experience and employment as a diagnostician, preferred.

Experience working with low-income students and families preferred.

Additional Requirements:
Reliable transportation is needed for travel between campuses.
